The short answer
A standard cleaning maintains a home that is already in decent shape. A deep cleaning resets a home that is not. If it has been more than about two months since a professional clean, book the deep clean. If you skip it and book standard, the crew spends the whole visit on catch-up work the price did not cover, and nobody ends up happy.
What a standard cleaning actually covers
Kitchen counters and appliance exteriors, inside the microwave, sinks cleaned and sanitized, bathrooms including showers, tubs, toilets and mirrors, dusting of accessible surfaces, all floors vacuumed and mopped, and trash removed. It is the routine work that keeps a clean home clean. Inside the oven and refrigerator are not included, though both can be added.
What a deep cleaning adds
Everything above, done in more detail, plus baseboards and window sills, ceiling fans and light fixtures, doors and door frames, appliance exteriors in more detail, and detailed kitchen and bathroom scrubbing with extra attention to buildup and grime. It takes longer because there is more surface area being touched, and that is what you are paying for.
The Houston factor
Humidity changes the math here. Pollen season coats sills and fan blades, and bathroom grout picks up mildew faster than it does in a dry climate. A home in Bellaire or Sugar Land that goes six months without a deep clean will show it in the grout lines and on the ceiling fan blades before it shows anywhere else.
How to tell which one you need
Run a finger along a baseboard and along the top edge of a ceiling fan blade. Look at the grout line where the shower wall meets the floor. If any of those three come back gray, you need the deep clean first. After that, standard visits on a recurring schedule hold the line, and most of our recurring customers never need a second deep clean in the same year.
The cost difference, plainly
A deep clean costs meaningfully more than a standard clean, because it takes meaningfully longer. The way most people handle it: one deep clean to reset, then recurring standard visits at a 5 to 15 percent discount depending on frequency. Over a year that costs less than booking deep cleans repeatedly, and the house stays in better shape throughout.
